Leigh Sorenson

July 19, 1933 — June 26, 2017

Leigh Kingram Sorenson, 83, died Monday, June 26, 2017 in Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley, MN. Leigh was born July 19, 1933 at the Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND and grew up on the family farm near Buchanan, ND. He graduated from Buchanan High School in 1951 and Valley City State Teachers College in 1960. Leigh and Jeanne (Carter) were married June 13, 1959.

From 1960 to 1995, he worked as a teacher and coach (Hastings, ND, Streeter, ND and Buchanan, ND) as a land surveyor and recreational therapist (Jamestown area, summers), as a forecasting engineer (Seattle, WA, 1966-1970), and farmer (Buchanan, 1970 to 1995). His other interests and activities range from reading, to acting in and watching theater, to playing cards, to participating in and watching sports. In 2013 Leigh and Jeanne moved to Apple Valley, MN.

Preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn (Brudevold) Sorenson. Leigh is survived by his wife Jeanne; sons Gregory (Ana), Gary (Kathy), and Randall (Beth); daughter Lisa Sorenson-Woodhull (Schuyler); 10 grandchildren Seth (Kate), Dan (Stephanie), Caleb (Louise), Laura (David), Amy (Alfonso), Carter, Jon, Cade, Rachel and Audra; 7 great-grandchildren Anastasia, Eva, Kai, MaLeah, Kaden, Emma and Jayden.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Grace Episcopal Church, 407 2nd Ave NE, Jamestown, ND. Memorials include Grace Episcopal Church (Jamestown), Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley, 15359 Founders Lane, Apple Valley, MN 55124 and/or Jamestown Area Youth Baseball, Attn.
