Larry Barta, 69, of Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Lawrence Alois Barta was born on August 1, 1944, in Oakes, ND, the son of Louis and Regina (Torscher) Barta. He attended Verona Public School and graduated from high school in 1962. After graduation, Larry moved to Denver, CO where he worked for Gordon Neon Sign Co. for several years. He became a journeyman sign hanger. Larry married Bonnie Rawllins in April 1968 and they had three children. They were divorced in 1973. Larry married Janice Dobson in Valley City, ND. They operated the Dakota Signs business together until Larry's retirement. Larry enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, gardening and flowers, playing pinochle, and his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janice; five children, John (Heather) Barta, San Antonio, TX, Richard (Carrie) Barta, San Antonio, TX, Lorn Barta, San Antonio, TX, Amber (Jay) Bantz, Fairbanks, IA, and Steven Barta, Fairbanks, IA; two step-children, Ann Dobson, Georgia, and Joe Dobson, Dallas, TX; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Virgina Barta, Bismarck, ND; brother, Tom (Kathy) Barta, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Willy; and all of his aunts and uncles.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMoure, ND.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown and one hour before the service at the church.

Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sanborn, ND.
