Kenneth A. Dobson, 67, Jamestown, North Dakota died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at MedCenter One Hospital, Bismarck, North Dakota.
Kenneth ""Ken"" was born June 7, 1942 in Berkley, California, the son of Ernie and Selma (Fevold) Dobson. He graduated from high school in New Town, ND in 1960. Ken married Donna Geigle in October 1967. He worked as a cook for a lumber company, was a sewing machine salesman and a meat manager for Ralph Johnson Grocery before moving to Jamestown in 1971. Ken was the meat manager for the Red Owl Grocery Store, Jamestown and later Leevers Super Value in Valley City. He was a radio personality and sports broadcaster for KSJB.
While in high school Ken played basketball and track. He was Class B State Champion in the javalin throw and held the state record for a number of years.
Ken was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the Jamestown Mainstreet Association. He was a softball umpire and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He liked to hunt and fish and especially spending time with his family.
Ken is survived by his wife, Donna, Jamestown; three children, Bruce (Cindy) Dobson, Mesa, AZ, Candace (Cory) Schmuhl, Bismarck, ND and Kevin (Kirstie) Dobson, Jamestown; eleven grandchildren; and one sister, Marsha Williamson, Larimore, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Leon Zavadil officiating.
