Karmen Bertsch

Karmen Bertsch, 72, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday evening, July 31, 2026 at Eventide, Jamestown.

Karmen Bertsch was born October 3, 1953, at Ashley, ND, the son of Orvind and Violet (Wolf) Bertsch. He was raised on the family farm south of Lehr, ND where they milked cows and farmed the land. Karmen attended school at Lehr, where he was a proud Leopard Basketball player and graduated in 1971. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Beth Miller in 1972. He attended Hanson Automotive College in Fargo, ND only to return to the family farm. Their son was born in 1978 and raised in Lehr until moving to Jamestown in 1983. While in Jamestown, Karmen had various sales positions where he enjoyed visiting with his customers. He enjoyed the outdoors of hunting deer, sitting at the local watering hole, playing cards, and telling stories.

Karmen is survived by his son, Josh (Jessica) Bertsch and two very loved grandchildren, Sasha and Deklan Bertsch; sister, Vickie (Roger) Martin; brother, Kelly (Dee) Bertsch; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth Bertsch; parents, Orvind and Violet Bertsch; brother, Kenny Bertsch; and many close friends he has met throughout the years.

Memorial Service – 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2026 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating. The family requests the service is casual attire, and would like everyone to join the family in a celebration of life following the service at Shady’s restaurant and lounge.

The family would also like to send a special thank you to all those at Eventide who cared for Karmen the last few weeks of his life.
