June H. Knudson, 100, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
June Frederickson was born June 30, 1912 at Kensal, ND, the daughter of Sophus and Christine (Hansen) Frederickson. There were 14 children, five boys and nine girls. She attended Kensal Public School graduating from high school in 1931. She entered nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND.
In 1933 she married W.E. (Walter) Knudson at the Jamestown First United Methodist Church by Rev. Leslie Burgum. They lived in Kensal until 1940 when they purchased a farm on the south side of Pingree. June did the usual jobs as a farm wife and was also known for her bread baking. They moved to Jamestown in 1978. Walter passed away in 1980.
June was very active in the Pingree Lutheran Church, school and city. She held offices in all three. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown, Ladies Aid, Theos and St. John's quilters for 22 years. She also belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and Royal Neighbors.
June enjoyed sewing, crocheting afghans, making crafts, quilting and playing pinochle and whist. As a labor of love, she made hundreds of baby sweaters and scarves for a mission project for St. John's Lutheran Church.
June is survived by four sons: Duane (Lois), Jamestown, Dennis (MaryBelle), Castle Rock, CO, Dale (Norine), Pingree and Mark (Suzanne), Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Lee, Fargo, ND and Lorraine Schroeder, Carrington, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson; twin great-grandsons; five brothers and six sisters.
