Joyce Guthmiller

Joyce Guthmiller, 85, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday morning, January 5, 2018 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Joyce Ova was born September 10, 1932 on a farm near Woodworth, ND, the daughter of Lloyd and Florence (Allen) Ova. She attended rural schools at Bashti and Kruger before graduating from Buchanan High School. Joyce attended college in the Napa, Idaho area, attaining a nursing degree. Her nursing career took her to California, Colorado, and Kentucky. Joyce and Richard Guthmiller were married July 10, 1964 in Jamestown where they made their home and she worked for Jamestown Hospital for 32 years.

Joyce is survived by husband, Richard Guthmiller, Jamestown; sons, Tim (Tina) Guthmiller, West Fargo, ND, Mike Guthmiller, Jamestown; Joel (Lori) Guthmiller, Jamestown; one grandchild, Erika(Andrew) Lamb; six step grandchildren, Mercedes, Casper, Drake, Dayna, Morgan, Allison; step great granddaughter; two brothers, Gerald (Darlene) Ova, Buchanan, ND and Darrell Ova, Gackle, ND; and uncle, Merle Allen, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mervyn and Stanley.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown with Pastor Matt Zimmer officiating.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Meals on Wheels, Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
