Joseph C. Grimes

Joseph C. Grimes, 92, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Joseph Clinton Grimes was born May 18, 1920, in Williston, ND, the son of Joseph James and Catherine Josephine (French) Grimes. He attended grammar school in Williston, moving with his family to Jamestown when he was 10 years old. He graduated from St. John's Academy in 1938. Following graduation he took over the family farm where he remained active until 2010 when he moved to the Heritage Center. Joe married Evelyn Cox in September 1947 at St. James Basilica where he remained an active member. He started working for Garvey elevator (now Gavilon) in the early 1960's, retiring in 1983.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe spent many hours as an active member of AA where he counseled many people on their road to recovery.

Joe is survived by his three daughters, Beth (Gene) Wanzek, Cleveland, ND, Joan (Chip) Lee, Eden Prairie, MN, and Terri (Michael) Glasser, New Orleans, LA; three sons, Michael (Debbie) Grimes, Mesa, AZ, Vincent Grimes, Jamestown, and Greg (Carrie) Grimes, Jamestown; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Ukstad, Valley City, ND.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn in November 2009; one son, Charles James Grimes in April 1986; his parents; three sisters, Ellen Rickel, Lucille Marquardt, and Rose Latka; and one brother, James Grimes.

Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013 with prayers of the

Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
