John A. Leimer, 95, Elk River, Minnesota, formerly of Jamestown, ND passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Guardian Angels Care Center, Elk River, Minnesota.
John A. Leimer was born April 21, 1920 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Joseph August and Ollie (Somsen) Leimer. He attended school in Buchanan, ND. He entered the U.S. Army October 1, 1942 at Fort Snelling, MN. He was discharged on July 30, 1943 at Fort Myers, FL.
He married Emma Schuler on May 28, 1944 at Buchanan, ND. They lived and farmed north of Buchanan until 1955 when they moved to Jamestown. Emma passed away in 1984. He married Elizabeth Stern Mueller in 1985.
John was a hard working and dedicated family man. He was outgoing, patient, and kind. He made many friends throughout his years of driving a bulk truck for Texaco. He was also active in church activities. John liked to laugh and joke, he especially loved spending time with family.
He is survived by two daughters, Gloria (Ronald) Stricker, Elk River, MN; Karen Devitt, Chandler, AZ; two grandchildren, Kelli (Adam) Horner, and Ryan (Kelsey) Stricker. Three great grandchildren, Audrey, Katherine, and Natalie; and sister, Margaret Limesand, Jamestown, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife (Emma), one brother (Herbert), sister (Virginia), and second wife (Elizabeth).
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Monday, October 12, 2015 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Visitation: One hour before service.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery
