John C. Gardner Jr.

March 22, 1961 — January 3, 2013

John Charles Gardner, Jr died on January 3, 2013, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, after a brief illness, with his loving family at his side.

John was born March 22, 1961 in Rolla, North Dakota to Judith Wagner (MacKinnon) and John C. Gardner Sr. (Jack). The family moved to Jamestown when John was three and he was raised in Jamestown having attended school through Jamestown Public Schools.

John was employed during his career by Interstate Engineering where he worked with his father doing land surveying. They would often reminisce about surveying in Montana and John cherished the memories and time they spent working together. His dad always said that John was the hardest worker he had ever known. He later worked at Lucas Aerospace in Jamestown; Dakota Fence in Fargo; and Mid American Steel Fargo.

He was a very caring son and kept in close contact with his family and called his mom every day. John was a very kind man and had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed Christmas every year and enjoyed watching his nieces and nephew opening gifts and celebrating the holiday. His family is very grateful that they had that memory of the holiday they spent together recently. John and Pat had a very special and loving relationship and this gave him great joy for twenty years. He will be greatly missed by Pat, his family and friends.

John is survived by the love of his life and partner of twenty years, Patricia ?Pat? Mikkelson, Fargo; mother, Judith Wagner, Jamestown; sisters, Mary Johnson of Fargo and Susan (Dennis) Fieber, Jamestown; one niece Nichole (Joshua) Schmidt, Jamestown; nephew, Andrew Peterson, Las Vegas, NV; and three great nieces, Caitlin and Allison George, and Madison Schmidt, all of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his father John (Jack) Gardner, grandparents Flora and John MacKinnon and Louise and Russell Gardner.
