Janice Vandellen

March 6, 1942 — November 16, 2019

Janice “Jan” VanDellen, 77, of Jamestown passed away November 16, 2019 after a short stay in the hospital. She was born in Grand Forks, ND on March 6, 1942 to Gerrit and Josephine (Nelson) Plaggemeyer.

She grew up and raised her four daughters in the Grand Forks area, later moving to Ellendale, ND and most recently, Jamestown, ND.

Her employment throughout her life included the Good Sam Nursing Home and Olson Drug in East Grand Forks, A Special Touch Catering in CA, Simplot in Grand Forks, Lakewood Park Bible Camp in Devils Lake, Hugos and Leevers in Grand Forks, and lastly before retiring Durhiem Farms in Ellendale.

Jan had a passion for her Lord Jesus which she acquired at a young age. She was involved in Christ Ambassadors and Youth for Christ. She lived a life of service by teaching Sunday School, being involved with Women’s ministries, helping with Vacation Bible School and other children’s ministry programs or by just being a good friend to her neighbors. She also volunteered in many organizations such as Christian Women’s Club, Mission Bells, Kedish House, Joseph’s Pantry, Opra House, and Salvation Army Thrift Store.

She was creative and artistic in all endeavors of her life; she loved to decorate and took great pride in it making anyplace shine brightly and inviting. Her greatest talent was in cake decorating, making beautiful unique masterpieces became a lifetime hobby. She was a devoted mother accompanying her daughters in many activities and made sure their lives were full of adventure. Her friends and grandchildren loved having laughing sessions with her.

Jan is survived by a sister, Angeline (Dennis) Berg Corona, CA, and her daughters; Patricia (David) Fisher, Wilbaux, MT, Cindy (Sheyne) Huffman, Walhalla, ND, Jane (Donald) Foster, Stirum, ND, Kimberly (Tim), Marshall, Jamestown, ND, grandchildren; Nalin (Dustin) Mondor, Jordan (Hannah) Fisher, Josie (Joe) Litch, Nathaniel Lee, Joshua Fisher, Jeff Foster, Nikos Lee, Shanice (Josh) Bailey, Colton (Hannah) Huffman, Jared Fisher, and Becky Foster, great-grandchildren; Zadie, Garrett, Kinzie, Eddy, Orville, Eli, Caleb, Thane, Brooklyn, and Nessie.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation: 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2019 at the First Assembly of God Church, Jamestown.

Memorial Service: 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2019 at the First Assembly of God Church, Jamestown.

Arrangements are in the care of Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
