Jake Stiles

Jake Stiles, 16, of Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 2026, from injuries sustained in an accident. Though his life was far too short, Jake left a lasting mark on everyone who knew and loved him.

Jake Robert Stiles was born December 28, 2009, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, the youngest son of Charles E. Stiles, Sr. and Anna M. (Montoya) Stiles. He spent his early years in Milo, Maine, attending Milo Elementary School before moving with his family to Jamestown in 2015. There, Jake continued his schooling at Washington and Lincoln Elementary Schools and was currently a freshman at Jamestown High School and the James Valley Career & Tech Center.

Jake was outspoken, creative, and full of imagination. He had a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loved Taco Bell, Cherry Coke, and spending hours playing Fortnite. Jake had a special gift for making people laugh, often without even trying, and his sense of humor brought joy to those around him—especially his best friends, Franklin, Michael, and SJ.

Above all, Jake was deeply loved. He will forever live on in the hearts of his parents, Charles Sr. and Anna Stiles; his siblings, Monica Montoya, Isabel (David Morrison), Charles Stiles, Jr. (Marina LaDeau), and Chrystal Stiles; his adopted brother, Pharon Wagner; his nieces and nephews, Jesse, Alex, Braden, Cierra, Theodosa, Xender, Robert, Khloe, Iris, Mia and Myla; his maternal grandmother, Isabel Montoya; uncles and aunts, Robert and Sarena, Andrew and Deeanza, Mike, Jr., and Randy; and many other uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

Jake was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mike Montoya, Sr., and his paternal grandparents, Robert B. Stiles, Barbara Stiles, and Barbara Luccero.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. James Basilica in Jamestown, with the Very Reverend C. F. Wilhelm as celebrant.
