Jack Nihill, 74, Jamestown, ND, formerly Kensal, ND died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at his home in Jamestown.
Jack Nihill was born March 1, 1934 in Kensal, ND, the son of John W. and Myrtle (Syvertson) Nihill. He was raised in Kensal and attended the rural school and later Kensal High School, graduating in 1951. After graduating, he farmed with his parents. In 1956, he entered the United States Army where he served for 2 years. Following his discharge, he returned to Kensal where he resumed farming. On August 11, 1962, he married Rose Marie Beach at St. John's Catholic Church in Kensal. He continued to farm until 1972 and drove truck until 1989 when he retired. In January of 2007, he and Rose Marie moved to Jamestown, ND.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie; 4 children: Tina (Larry) Wagner, Valley City, ND; Jackie (Steve) Fisher, Ypsilanti, ND; Amy (Duane) Kastet, Ypsilanti, ND; Eric (Amy) Nihill, Valley City, ND; a son-in-law, Lenus Berge, Ypsilanti, ND; a daughter-in-law, Cyndy Nihill, Bismarck, ND; 11 grandchildren: Robert Wagner, Nicholas Wagner, Anthony Fisher, Mindy Fisher, Austin Kastet, Lacey Kastet, Andrew Nihill, Jessica Nihill, Olivia Nihill, Alexandera Nihill, Elizabeth Nihill; 1 great-grandchild, Kale Fisher; 5 siblings: Shirley (Dick) Erickson, Carrington, ND; Jean (Kenneth) Nelson, Fargo, ND; Pat (Gertrude) Nihill, Kensal, ND; Sandra Balvitsch, Carrington, ND and Tom Nihill, American Falls, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George; a son, Jon and a daughter, Linda.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Interment: St. John's Cemetery, Kensal, ND on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
