Irving Eugene Standley

December 4, 1945 — May 2, 2025

Irving Eugene Standley, 79, Jamestown, formerly from Valley City and rural Hannaford, went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2025, after a long battle with Dementia. He was born in Valley City, ND, to Pastor Irving and Hannah (Lende) Standley on December 4, 1945.

Irving was an Insurance Agent, held a Contractor’s License, designed and built cabinets and fully designed and built one house and worked on many more. He loved to do landscaping and was a talented singer who also loved to whistle. Later on, he spent 18 years at the Fogderud farm at Hannaford during which time he designed the remodeling of the farm home and helped on it. He also loved driving trucks for the Sugar Beet harvest for several years.

In 2021 he moved to the Gardenette Estates in Jamestown then spent 9 months at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington and passed away in Jamestown.

Irving is survived by his son, Nathan Paul Standley and his brother Russell Standley and wife Liz of Cooperstown: Niece Tanya (husband Stacey) Lyons and sons Hector, Anthony and Jerome; and nephew Troy, Eureka, California; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew Travis, Eureka, California.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Tim and Deb Fogderud for all they did for Irving over the years. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Old Home Place, the farm of his cousin Tim and Deb Fogderud, 771, 112th Av. SE, Hannaford, ND on August 2, 2025.
