H.L. Bud Tordoff

H.L. "Bud" Tordoff, 85, of Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Eventide at Hi Acres, Jamestown.
Herman Lee Tordoff was born on May 7, 1928, in Jamestown, ND, the son of Herman and Minnie (Anderson) Tordoff. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946. He then attended Jamestown College for two years, then transferred to the University of Minnesota and graduated with his bachelor's degree in mortuary science. On August 16, 1956, he and Judith Fiechtner were married. He joined the Eddy Funeral Home while attending Jamestown College and eventually became a partner. Bud married Doris Doepke on October 9, 1974. He retired from funeral directing in 1979, and then worked at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children, the RSVP program where he read to third grade students, and participated in the Senior Companion Program. Doris died in 1982.
He was an active charter member of Concordia Lutheran Church, holding several offices over the years. Bud was a board member of the Highland Home Cemetery Association.
Church and family were most important in Bud's life.
Bud is survived by his son, Michael (Lynn Wachholz) Tordoff, Waconia, MN; two daughters, Julie (Jonathan) Nathan and Lisa (Thomas) Boerger, both of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Blaine (Janna) Bergstedt, Jamestown, ND, Kristin Tordoff, Miami, FL, Phillip (fiancée Whitney Baggett) Boerger, Statesboro, GA, and Andrea Boerger, Bismarck, ND; and sister, Elizabeth Singer, Jamestown, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris, and his brother-in-law, William Singer.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Tom Eckstein officiating.
Visitation: None scheduled. Arrangements are in the care of Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
