Hazel Rasmussen, 94, Montpelier, North Dakota died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Hazel Gertrude Ellefson was born December 27, 1910 on a farm near Thompson, Iowa the daughter of Hans and Gena (Nelson) Ellefson. She was baptized on January 16, 1911 in Lake Mills Iowa. At the age of two, she moved with her parents and aunt, Clara Nelson and an uncle, Tom Ellefson to a farm in Ypsilanti Township in North Dakota. Hazel was confirmed on July 20, 1924 at Montpelier Lutheran Church. She attended the Ypsilanti Township School and graduated from Montpelier High School. Hazel married Arne Rasmussen on October 6, 1949 and they lived on her family farm until moving to Jamestown in 1987.
She was a member of the Montpelier Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Montpelier Senior Citizens Club.
Hazel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Arland and Verna Rasmussen, West Fargo, ND and three grandchildren, Kristi, Fargo, ND; Robert and Katie, both of West Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arne and her parents.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the Montpelier Lutheran Church, Montpelier, North Dakota with Pastor Norman Winkelman and Pastor JoAnne Moeller officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Montpelier Lutheran Cemetery, Montpelier, North Dakota.
