Hank Herman Stoppleworth, 48, of Ypsilanti, passed away on February 2, 2026, at his family farm. Hank was born on August 13, 1977, in Medina, North Dakota, to Dennis and Viona (Kramlich) Stoppleworth. Known to everyone simply as Hank, he was a man defined by his big heart, steady hands, and endless curiosity.
A 1996 graduate of Montpelier High School, Hank was truly a jack of all trades—farmer, mechanic, and even a Burger King employee at one point in his life. In 2006, Hank was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Shortly after, he became disabled and was unable to continue working. However, he found joy in working with his hands, tackling home and yard projects that sometimes took longer than expected. Hank also took an interest in raising pigs and chickens, demolition derbies, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed listening to and singing classic country music. Many will remember him for his black velvet boot and his homemade deer sausage.
On July 16, 2004, Hank married the love of his life, Krystal Marcotte. Together they welcomed three sons: Dylan, Matthew, and Austyn. In 2020, Austyn’s girlfriend, Alli Dockter, moved in with them. In 2024, two of Alli’s nephews, Seth and Masyn, also moved in and quickly became a big part of Hank’s life. Hank proudly bragged about them to anyone who would listen and truly adored them as if they were his own grandchildren. He had a huge love for his family.
Hank is survived by his wife, Krystal; sons Dylan, Matthew, and Austyn (Alli Dockter); adopted grandsons Seth and Masyn; his mother, Viona; brothers Clifford (Becky), Roy (Khristal), Merle (Alexandra), and Ross (Ashley) Walch; sisters Liza (Randy) Danielson, Linda Stickel (Allen Buchanan), Susie (Tena Stickel), and Lucy; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis; siblings Loretta, Joe, and Frank Stoppleworth; niece Baylee Stoppleworth; and nephew Bryan Radtke Jr.
Hank was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
