Grace Ottmar went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 20, 2026, surrounded by family.
Grace Gackle was born July 5, 1929 in Kulm, North Dakota. She was the daughter of the late George and Bertha Gackle. She had two brothers: George and Roy.
Grace graduated from Kulm high school in 1947, and from the University of North Dakota (UND) in 1951 with a music major and an English minor. After graduation she received a teaching position in Hazelton, North Dakota.
Grace met the love of her life at UND, and on December 25, 1951 married Clint Ottmar. After a brief stint in Grand Forks where Clint finished law school, they made their home in Jamestown where they raised their four children: Tim, Mark, Tom and Gail. Clint tragically passed away in August 1978. Grace is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
After Clint’s passing, Grace worked in the business department at Jamestown Hospital for 21 years. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she played organ and piano and was choir director for 36 years. She continued to play piano until the time of her passing.
Grace loved her family, friends, music, and most of all her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with whom she now abides forever!
