Goldie Vaugh, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of rural Pettibone, ND died Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Central Dakota Village Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Goldie Hornung was born September 27, 1914 in Petersville Township, near Pettibone, the daughter of Ernest and Rosa (Zwinger) Hornung. She grew up and graduated from 8th grade at Hornung #1 School. On November 23, 1938 Goldie married Henry Vaugh in Tappen, ND.
They farmed south of Pettibone for 2 years. In 1940, they moved to a farm in Petersville Township, north of Pettibone, where they lived and farmed until 1985. Goldie was a seamstress and did upholstery work. She also installed the tile and worked on the floor coverings at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Senior Center in Pettibone. Goldie gave many neighbors and friends hair cuts and home permanents over the years. They moved to Jamestown in 1985 and retired in 1990. Henry died July 25, 2001.
Goldie was a 4-H leader for many years, a member of LWML at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pettibone and Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, charter member and treasurer of Pettibone Senior Citizens Center and she joined the Sons of Norway in Jamestown.
Goldie is survived by her four daughters: Ramona Abraham (Patrick Rafferty), Pettibone, LouAnn (Berdell) Wayne, Jamestown, Ella Jean (Allen) Kamoni, Pettibone and Lois Guthmiller, Pettibone; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Edgar (Dora) Hornung, Jamestown; two sisters, Laura Bodvig, Jamestown and Ida Dugan of Waterloo, IL and two sisters-in-law, Helen Hornung, Havre, MT and Alberta Hornung, Pettibone.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers: Joe, Elmer, Clarence and Albert in infancy; two sisters, Esther and Hannah and two sons-in-law, James Abraham and Larry Guthmiller.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND with Pastor Tom Eckstein officiating.
Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Pettibone, North Dakota.
