Gerda M. Thenagels, 88, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.
Gerda Marie Dreuw was born December 26, 1925 in Stolberg, West Germany, the daughter of Albert and Maria (Conrads) Dreuw. On October 1, 1949 Gerda married Henry Thenagels in Stolberg. They came to the United States in 1955. They managed the Cox Bakery in Wahpeton, ND and later owned the Dutchman's Bakery in Wahpeton from 1963 to 1975. They moved to Jamestown in 1975 where Gerda worked at Baker Boy Bakery and the Donut Hole. She also was a dietician and a nutrition specialist at the ND State Hospital and Bethel Four Acres.
Gerda's hobbies included cake decorating and flower gardening. She enjoyed reading, writing, having coffee at her house with friends and she had a fondness for music.
Gerda is survived by two daughters, Vera Nicholsen, Jamestown and Edith (Dennis) Kellner, Golden Valley, MN; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
