Gene Jessen

Gene Jessen, 93, Ypsilanti, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at his home.

Gene Jessen was born September 27, 1932 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Lawrence and Anne (Jansick) Jessen. Gene graduated from Jamestown High School. Gene served in the US Army from 1954-1956 before being honorably discharged. He took over his family’s farm until age 93.

Gene enjoyed baseball and is a member of the North Dakota Baseball Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn, Arvada, CO; four daughters, Laura (Tom) Dravitz, Moorhead, MN, Norma (John) Barrus, Crookston, MN, Katherine Jessen, Arvada, CO and Kristina Jessen, Arvada, CO; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Ramona Reifschneider, Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his son Lawrence G. Jessen.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 5, 2026 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND. Interment will be in Ypsilanti Cemetery, Ypsilanti, ND.
