Frieda M. Stiefel

Frieda M. Stiefel, 89, Jamestown, ND died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Frieda Martha Ziemann was born December 6, 1923 on the family farm near Krem, ND, the daughter of Emanule and Martha (Rahn) Ziemann. She attended school in Mercer County and at age 18 she moved to Bismarck, ND. She worked at GP Hotel & Restaurant as a waitress and later at the Bismarck Hospital in the Dietitian department. On June 7, 1944 Frieda married Albin J. Stiefel at Trinity Lutheran Church, north of Stanton, ND. They lived in Bismarck, Hazen and Mandan, before moving to Jamestown in 1961. Frieda worked for Akres Dutch Oven Bakery for 7 1/2 years. In 1968 she started her employment at Dakota Bake N Serve, and retired from there in 1986. She became ill with Ataxia disease, which left her handicapped.

Frieda enjoyed quilting and crafts, reading, bingo, Scrabble and visiting with her family and friends. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, past member of the VFW Auxiliary and life member of the DRV Auxiliary.

Frieda is survived by two daughters, Judy (Keith) Zhorela, Bismarck and Karen (Bernie) Frisk, Bouse, AZ; three sons, Leon Stiefel and David Stiefel, both of Jamestown and Kim Stiefel, Grafton, ND; six grandsons; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; six brothers and five sisters.
