Fredrick E. Hofmann

Fredrick "Fred" Edwin Hofmann, 85, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Medina, ND, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.

Fred was born January 21, 1927 on a farm in Peterson Township, near Medina, ND, the son of Peter and Lydia (Stohr) Hofmann. When Fred was one year old the family moved to Iosco township where he went to grade school through 8th grade. He attended high school in Medina and later received his G.E.D. dipolma. Fred entered the US Army in 1946 and served until his honorable discharge in 1948. Returning to North Dakota he went to Lakewood Bible College. On November 5, 1950 Fred married Loverna Metzger in Jamestown. They lived and farmed northeast of Medina all their married life. Fred entered Eventide at Hi-Acres in 2011.

Fred was an active member of the Medina Assembly of God Church where he served on the board as secretary and treasurer and was a Sunday School teacher for many years and also Sunday School Superintendent. He was a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God Church for 41 years. Fred served on the Medina School Board for 8 years, the Medina Redistrict Board for many years and was president and treasurer of the Medina Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting and traveling.

Fred is survived by his wife, Loverna, Medina; five children, Karen Small, Tuba City, AZ, Kathryn (Ken) Jones, West Fargo, ND, Kenneth (Joyce) Hofmann, Aberdeen, SD, Karolyn (Don) Farquhar, Sutherland, IA and Keith (Julie) Hofmann, Medina; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leah (Vernon) Hins, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and four sisters.
