Frank Feist

June 3, 1917 — February 7, 2009

Frank Feist, 91, Edgeley, North Dakota passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7th at the Manor St. Joseph in Edgeley with his loving family at his side.

Frank was born June 3, 1917 in Napoleon, North Dakota, the son of Raymond and Theresa (Senger) Feist and spent most of his early years there. However, for most of his adult life, he resided in the Edgeley area with the exception of the 2 years he spent in the military during World War II.

Frank married Katie Fischer, Ipswich, SD on July 7, 1943.

Early on, Frank worked for area farmers and sold Watkins products for a time as well. Later, he landed a position on the North Dakota Highway Department in Edgeley where he eventually became the Section Forman and retired there after 34 years of dedicated service to his state, county and community.

Playing the accordion was more than a hobby for Frank as he traveled around parts of North and South Dakota to play wedding dances, anniversaries and good, old fashioned polka parties. Each New Year's, Frank would listen to Auld Lang Syne a few times, then go and play it to the revelers at midnight.

Frank was a renowned card player, skilled at many games, however the game of Pinnacle was his passion. Whether he played with his buddies at the card tables or at home with relatives, he thoroughly enjoyed the hours he spent dealing out the cards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Katie who resides at the St. Rose care facility in Lamoure, ND and sister Ida Weigel, who currently resides at the Manor St. Joseph in Edgeley, children Martha (Frank) Weigel - Edgeley, Patti (Larry A.)
