Frances Schulz passed away February 15, 2014 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND.
Frances Edna Cook was born September 8, 1937 to Vestal and Ruth (Wingire) Cook at Woodworth, ND. She attended country grade school and graduated from Woodworth Public School. She received her teaching certificate through Valley City State University and taught grade school in Conklin Township.
On September 15, 1957, Frances married Walter Schulz in Woodworth and they farmed on the Schulz farmstead until 2002, when they retired to Jamestown. Frances was very active in the Woodworth community, serving as a 4H leader for many years, taught Sunday school, was an active member of the Woodworth American Legion Auxiliary, the Woodworth Community Betterment group, PTA, served on the Lowry Township Board, Lutheran Woman?s Missionary League (LWML) and many other groups over the years. She continued her life of service when they moved to Jamestown as a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, LWML, and the Jamestown American Legion Auxiliary.
Frances was an excellent cook and hostess who loved to entertain people in their home. She was an avid gardener and their yards were always filled with flowers and a vegetable garden. Frances constructed dozens of beautiful quilts over the years, which are treasured by her children, grandchildren and extended family. She loved to play cards and to dance. Frances was always on hand with a meal, baked goods or a visit to others in their times of need.
Frances is survived by her husband of 56 years, Walter, three children: Kathy (Kurt) Henkenius, Ft. Collins, CO; Shanda Traiser, Bismarck. ND; Mitch (Lynette), Woodworth, ND; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Malcolm and David, and sister Lynne Leapaldt.
