Frances M. Rude

Frances M. Rude, 88, Jamestown, ND, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown.

Frances M. Smith was born August 15, 1925 in Homer Township, near Jamestown, the daughter of Henry C. and Clara (Curtis) Smith. She was educated in Jamestown schools.

On November 20, 1943 Frances married Leonard Rude in Jamestown. They farmed in Buchanan for a couple of years, moved to Carrington for two years and then moved to Jamestown. Frances was employed by Economy Cleaners, White Drug, Doerr Jewelers and JC Penney Co, retiring in 1987. She was also a lunch moniter at Roosevelt School for many years.

Frances was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, where she was active in the Faith Circle and she enjoyed working at the church bazaar. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed flowers, camping trips and she loved her TOPS club. She also enjoyed her kids coming over on Friday nights for Happy Hour and the morning walks at McElroy Park with Leonard.

Frances is survived by two daughters, Donna Fischer and Kathy Vandeberghe; one son, David Rude, all of Jamestown; five grandchildren, Shaun (Deanna) Fischer, Cheryl (Dave) Zimniak, Tina (friend, Mike) Fischer, Mark (Becky) Vandeberghe and Paul (Lori) Vandeberghe; and eight great-grandchildren, Macy & Brayden Fischer, Michael Zimniak, Ashley, Ambria, Alyssa Vandeberghe, Alexis & Kelsey Vandeberghe.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; three sisters and son-in-law, Tom Vandeberghe.
