Eugene Baumgartner

Eugene Leroy Baumgartner, 80, Jamestown, ND passed away Saturday evening, July 12, 2025 at Sanford on 23rd in Fargo, ND.

Eugene Leroy Baumgartner was born January 31, 1945 to Eugene and Barbara Baumgartner. He graduated from Strasburg High School. Lawrence Welk presented him his diploma.

Gene entered the Navy after graduating and spent 2 ½ years in the service. He married Violet Keller. They made their home in Aberdeen, SD. He was employed by Cass Clay, before moving to Fargo and was employed by Case New Holland for 34 years. He retired while living in Christine, ND. Violet passed away in 2008. Eugene married the love of his life Juanita Hofmann on September 25, 2010. They made their home in Jamestown until his passing on July 12, 2025.

Gene and Juanita spent several winters making quilts and gave away about 250. Gene loved fishing with Jim and Cory Wegleitner. He also liked playing pinochle and going to casino. Gene like country music, watching Western movies, dancing and traveling. Gene and Juanita traveled to Nashville and Branson with Darlene and Lyman Keim. Gene will be greatly missed.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughters, Susan (John) Trnka, Wheaton, MN, Anita (Todd) Trautman, Cleveland, ND, Cindy (Darrel) Goodroad, Jamestown, ND; grandchildren Lindsey Trautman, Leah Trautman (Preston Martin), Travis, Tyler, and Nathan Goodroad, Zachary, Alex, Andrew, Joshua and Elise Nienas, Lindsey, Lance and Luke Leonard; great granddaughter Dawson Trautman; siblings Tillie Holzer, Linton, ND, David (Kim), Fargo, ND, Bernie Olheiser, Fargo, ND, Betty (Jim) Mulske, Champlin, MN, Jerry, Bismarck, ND, Marie Keller, Aberdeen, SD, Patty Keller, Aberdeen, SD.

He was preceded in death by his wife Violet, parents, siblings Evelyn, Donna Mae, Clarence, Daniel, Frank and Charles.

Rosary – 6:30 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Mass of Christian Burial – 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. James Basilica, with the Very Reverend C. F. Wilhelm, celebrant.

Burial – Holy Cross Cemetery South, Fargo, ND.
