Esther Groettum

Esther Groettum, 89, of Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.

Esther Essig was born on July 23, 1920 two miles south of Medina, ND, the daughter of Christian G. and Nettie (Schneider) Essig. She grew up and received her education in Medina. On August 14, 1942 Esther married Leonard Groettum in Jamestown. The two farmed in Medina and later in Eldridge, ND. In 1953 Esther and Leonard moved to Jamestown, where Esther worked at Hi-Acres Manor. After Leonard passed away in 1985, Esther moved to the Gardenette Apartments. She worked in the Gardenette kitchen until 2008, when she moved to the Rock of Ages home due to health reasons.

Esther is survived by one brother, Douglas (Diane) Essig, Shevlin, MN; one sister-in-law, Viola Essig, Shevlin, MN; and seven nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and one sister-in-law.
