Emily Prestwich Eslinger

It is with great sadness that the family of Emily Jane Prestwich Eslinger announces her sudden passing on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the age of 80.
Emily will be lovingly remembered by her husband, LeMar (Le) Eslinger; step-children, Karen Prestwich Adams, Jolynn Searle (Gerald), David Eslinger (Sandra), Carolee Eslinger (Brent Demer), Karen Sue Sasser (Galen), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also greatly missed by her beloved dogs, Izzy and Lexie. Emily is also survived by her beloved siblings John Back, Myrna Rufer, and Carol Jacobson (Don), and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Elver and Myrtle Rugroden Back of Pine Island, Minnesota. Emily was born in Red Wing, MN in 1945 and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1963. Her sister remembers her as a happy, curious young child with bright brown eyes and pigtails. As a young woman Emily enjoyed horses and loved animals of all sorts; she was also a people person with many friends. She lived for many years in Idaho Falls, Idaho where she retired from her long-time job at Dillards in 2007. After retiring from Dillards, Emily enjoyed part-time work for Marsden Brothers Jewelry Liquidators until 2024. Emily and Le moved to Kulm, North Dakota in 2009. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lehr, North Dakota, where she especially enjoyed the company of her church family. She loved spending quality time with family and friends, and she enthusiastically engaged in hobbies including quilting, jewelry making and playing card games. Emily is fondly remembered as a generous, gracious friend who shared what she had and always showed up with a gift (or many) when she visited.
