Emilia Randall, 102, Bismarck, ND, formerly of Robinson, ND passed away October 2, 2013 at St. Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck.
Emilia Grabinske, the daughter of Reinhold and Amelia (Freund) Grabinske, was born October 22, 1910, 5 miles north of Robinson in South Merkel township. She attended school in Robinson. On July 15, 1929 Emilia married Lloyd Randall in Steele. They farmed northwest of Lake Williams. Mr. Humphery Evans, a blind gentlemen and a friend of the Randalls lived with them for years until 1955 when he moved to a nursing home in Valley City. They farmed during the awful 1930's, but things slowly improved. They lived on the farm until 1968 when Dick and Pat took over the farm. They moved into Robinson. Lloyd passed away July 18, 1975.
Emilia was busy in church, civic club, and homemakers. She boarded several teachers over the years and was quite a matchmaker. Several of her teachers married and remained in the community. She wrote a book "Hardships & Happiness" about her life, in her spare time. She loved to travel and in 1980 she went to Germany on the "Friendships Force" flight. She also traveled throughout the United States. She loved living and took one day at a time.
She entered Golden Manor in Steele, ND in August 2006, then to Mandan and Bismarck.
Emilia is survived by daughter, Geraldine (Gordon) Eichele, Robinson; two sons, Robert Randall, Robinson and Rodney (Joyce) Randall, Everett, WA; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Richard; and seven brothers and sisters.
