Emil T. Nelson

Emil Nelson, 98, of Edgeley, ND, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Jamestown, ND.
Emil Tolstrup Nelson was born on January 2, 1916, in Willowbank Township, LaMoure County, North Dakota to Laurtis "L.L.C." Nelson and Magdalena K. (Jessen) Nelson. He attended country schools and graduated from Edgeley Public School in 1934. Emil attended North Dakota Agricultural College and was a member of Alpha Gamma Ro fraternity. He graduated from Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. Emil married Marian Donaldson, of Fargo, on September 7, 1940 and they farmed in Willowbank Township, raising three children.
Emil was past LaMoure County GOP Chairman and was elected to the North Dakota State Senate in 1954 and again in 1962. He was an active member of the Edgeley Alumni Association and the Edgeley Golf Club Association. Emil was a past member of the Edgeley Lion's Club, Edgeley Fire Department, Maple River Masonic Lodge, and a Willowbank supervisor.
Emil is survived by his daughter, Margaret (Joseph) Lamb, Ankeny, IA; two sons, Scott (Linda) Nelson, Chandler, OK, and Steve (Julie) Nelson, Jamestown; nine grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; parents; two sisters, Leona Musland and Anna Knudson; and two brothers, Clarence and Louis Nelson.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley, ND.
Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery in Edgeley, ND,
