Elsie Weber passed away on January 23, 2025, in Billings, Montana at the age of 91. She was born on October 21, 1933, to John and Elsie Nelson in Donnybrook, ND.
Elsie married Wayne Weber in 1953 and together they raised six children: Susan (Dave), Jayson (Anne), Nancy, Mike (Heather), Tom (Tammy), and Bob (Wendy). She was a grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Nathan Hamm (Robin), Nicholas Hamm (Brittney), Rachel Peel (Mike), Hannah Desrosiers (John), Kali Weber, Dominik Weber, Charles Weber, Greta Weber, Lucas Weber, Sally Weber, Charlie Weber, Talus Martin, Creedence Martin. She had seven great-grandchildren: Hunter Saks, Sophia Hamm, Max and Ford Hamm, Stella and Elsie Desrosiers, and Evelyn Christianson.
Elsie attended Donnybrook High School and graduated in 1951. She then completed an Associate Degree from Minot State College and graduated in 1952. With her gregarious nature and love of people she landed the perfect job at the public library in Jamestown ND, where she became acquainted with many of the community members. She retired after 27 years.
Growing up in a large farming family, she learned the spirit of service from her parents, John and Elsie Nelson. Playing the piano since childhood, she loved learning new music, and played the organ for the choir at St. James Basilica. She participated in many community organizations. No matter how busy Elsie was with family, work and commitments, she always had time to help others with meals, housekeeping, childcare or a listening ear.
In her later years, to be closer to family, she moved to a senior living community in Billings, MT. With her “Swedish gift of gab”, she made many new friends, playing pinochle, attended yoga classes, and volunteered in the library. After growing up without electricity and running water, she enjoyed having a dishwasher for the first time at age 86. She is survived by her sister Ann Wilson and many nieces and nephews.
