Elmer R. Roemmich, 74, of Spiritwood, North Dakota, died Friday, October 10, 2003 from a farm accident near Jamestown, ND.
Elmer was born October 31, 1928 in Tappen, ND the son of August and Cecilia (Bamesberger) Roemmich. He grew up on a farm south of Tappen and attended country school there. He helped his parents on the family farm. In 1943 the family moved to a farm northeast of Jamestown where Elmer has resided ever since. He married Marian Degen on November 2, 1952 at the First United Methodist Church in Jamestown. They farmed northeast of Jamestown all their lives.
Elmer enjoyed playing softball, card games with family and friends and he loved to go dancing every Saturday night. He loved the fair and liked to work at the fairgrounds during the Stutsman County Fair. Elmer also played in the ""Rosebuds"" band for many years.
He was a member of the Rose Township #2 School Board, the Clementsville Elevator Board, Spiritwood Betterment Club, ND Recycling, past chairman of the Cenex/Farmers Union Oil Board, County chairman of the National Farmers Organization and a trustee at the United Methodist Church.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Marian, daughter, Lorinda (Bob) Steele of Gillette, WY, two sons, Steven (Susan) Roemmich, Spiritwood, and Scott (Carrie) Roemmich, Jamestown, seven grandchildren, three brothers, Melvin (Pauline) Roemmich, Jamestown, Norman (Catherine) Roemmich, Jamestown and Raymond (Betty) Roemmich, Stillwater, MN and one sister, Lenora (Ron) Legler, Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
