Elizabeth “Betty” Senger was born December 25, 1929 to Jacob and Eva (Wald) Jangula in Zealand, N.D.
She passed away peacefully at Prince of Peace, Ellendale ND at the age of 95. She had been receiving hospice care since May 22, 2025
Betty met her true-life partner, Wendelin Senger and was married in Edgeley on May 29, 1950. They made their home for a couple of years in Butte Montana, 1952. Later they settled in Edgeley N.D, in 1958 where they purchased a farmstead 5 miles East and two miles South of Edgeley. Together as a team/partners they farmed Gods land and milked cows. Betty was an extraordinary farm wife, she milked cows, drove grain trucks, and raised 100 chickens yearly. Betty would plant a humongous vegetable garden and her produce yearly was bountiful as she fertilized and mulched it. She had a green thumb for any type of plants and garden vegetables.
They were blessed with 9 children.
Betty enjoyed gardening and canning. God blessed her with a gift, her hands, she could bake the best pastries, prepared German dishes that would make anybody’s mouth water for more. She made beautiful ceramics and enjoyed doing many varieties of craft projects. She was a seamstress and made beautiful quilts, table runners. She was self-taught, no project was too big for Betty. She handled it like a professional.
Betty loved her children; her life was her children. She was known for having family get togethers and making her famous fried chicken, along with all the trimmings.
After Wendelin passed away Betty moved into Edgeley in 2000 and purchased a home.
She was a member of the Manor Auxiliary Club. Betty worked at the Manor for 12.5 years from March 2001 - August 2013. She enjoyed working with the residents and caring for them. Betty washed the linens weekly for the Transfiguration Church, she was a faithful servant and helped wherever she could.
Betty had strong Catholic faith and that carried her through the toughest battles that she had to endure in her lifetime.
Betty moved to Manor St. Joseph from January 2014 - October 2017.
In 2018 she moved to Ellendale Prince of Peace until her death.
We would like to thank all staff at Prince of Peace and the Hospice team from the Red River Valley for their exceptional care and services they provided for our Mother until the end of her life.
