Elizabeth Guthmiller

Elizabeth ""Lizzie"" Guthmiller, 89, Carrington, North Dakota, formerly of Pettibone, North Dakota died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington.

Elizabeth ""Lizzie"" Schmidt was born January 9, 1921 in Frettim township, northwest of Pettibone, ND, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Kassman) Schmidt. She attended rural country schools. On June 6, 1940 Lizzie married John Guthmiller in Pettibone. She worked at the Red Owl and Super Valu stores in Pettibone. Lizzie owned and operated the Pettibone Café for many years.

She liked to cook and read and she enjoyed dancing.

Lizzie is survived by three children, Vernon (Betty) Guthmiller, Carrington, Marion (Reinhold) Gruebele, Pettibone, and Gary (Sharon) Guthmiller, Beulah, ND; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Schmidt, Pettibone and Reinhold (Verla) Schmidt, Fargo, ND; and one sister, Violet Gruebele, Pettibone.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Larry and Norman; parents; one brother, Reuben; and three sisters, Katherine, Frieda and Martha.
