Donna Mae Carlson

Donna Mae Ida Carlson, 96, of Edgeley ND passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Manor St. Joseph, Edgeley ND.

Donna Mae was born on Nov. 21, 1929 on a farm in Bluebird Township, LaMoure County, ND to Donald Toay Sr. and Viola “Sis” Toay (Nicolai). She attended LaMoure County schools before graduating from Jud High School in 1948.

On Oct. 3, 1948 Donna Mae was united in marriage to Byrl “Bud” Carlson of Edgeley, ND. To their union they had 3 children, Donald, Kaye and Connie. They farmed in the Jud area until moving to Edgeley in 1976. Budd passed away in 1988. Donna Mae resided in Edgeley until her passing. She worked in several cafes for 4 years, and in the Edgeley school as a cook’s helper for 7 years. In 1990 she started working at Manor St. Joseph as a nurse’s aide and worked for 26 years. When Donna Mae moved into the Manor St. Joseph as a resident she was loved and cared for a s family. She was a member of the Manor St. Joseph Auxiliary and an active member of the Diesem, now Edgeley Seventh-Day Adventist church.

Donna Me is survived by her children, Donald (Karen) Carlson, Edgeley, ND, Kaye (Steven) Duden, Lincoln, NE, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Byrl, her parents, daughter Connie (Lonnie) Fregien, sister Darlene Dawson, brother Donald (bub) Toay Jr. and his wife Betty, great grandson Chance Duden and granddaughter in law Amy Carlson.

A memorial service and burial will be at a later date.
