Edith Tarbell, 97, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.
Edith Haas was born October 26, 1911 in rural Cleveland, ND, the daughter of Katrina and Jacob Haas. She attended rural schools in the area. She married Earl Tarbell on June 4, 1932. They lived and farmed on the family farm until they moved to Jamestown in 1946, where they worked and raised their family. She worked for the North Dakota State Hospital for 22 years before retiring. Edith was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church.
Edith loved her family and we all have special memories of her. She loved listening to music, dancing, quilting, and cooking.
Edith is survived by her seven children, Joyce Jensen, Fort Meyers, FL; Patricia Wright, South Hampton, NJ; Carol Ost, Washington, D.C.; Gerald (Marilyn) Tarbell, Las Vegas, NV; Warren (Deloris) Tarbell, Spokane, WA; Ardelle (Robert) Walker, Jamestown; and David (Debbie) Tarbell, Jamestown; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; parents; one son, Myron; grandson, Monte; and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Steve Berntson officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial in the spring: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
