Earl Gabrielson, 79, of Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Earl R. Gabrielson was born on October 21, 1933 in Hillsboro, ND, the son of Gustav and Pauline (Nelson) Gabrielson. He graduated from high school and entered the US Air Force in Fargo, ND on January 13, 1953. Earl served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict and was discharged on January 12, 1957. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science. Earl married the love of his life, Audrey Freestad, on June 20, 1959 at Hendrum, MN. They made their home in Grafton and in 1960 Earl became employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. They moved to Jamestown where he was a life member of the V.F.W. and Past Post Commander of the American Legion, the Honor Guard, Elks and Eagles. Audrey died of Lou Gehrig's Disease in 1977. Earl enjoyed hunting, family gatherings with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his dog, Thunder.

Earl is survived by his wife, Carol, of Jamestown; three children, Brad (Polly Neumiller) Gabrielson of Jamestown, Barry (Peggy) Gabrielson of Jamestown, and Amy (Jason Dobson) Olson of Jamestown; grandchildren, Zak Gabrielson of Jamestown, Amber (Mark) Docktor of Jamestown, Tyler Gabrielson of Phoenix, AZ, Josh Schmieg of Tappen, Jason Schmieg of Jamestown, Jeremy Schmieg of Watertown, SD, and Jolissa Netterville of Jamestown, Kayla (Abe) Allen of Jamestown, Taylor Olson and Ryan Olson of Jamestown; great grandchildren, Cayson and Kianna Allen of Jamestown; sisters, Pearl Simmons of Fargo, ND and Delores (Don) Swanson of Moorhead, MN; brother, Curt (Bev) Gabrielson of Lodi, CA; a Carol's children, Dayle Gomez and Gregory Curtis of Jamestown, and grandchildren, Baron Curtis of Jamestown and Mercedes Curtis of Moorhead, MN and Brittnay Gomez of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Audrey; and brothers, Everett, George, Chester, and Gilmer.


Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Scott W. Block officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Friday, May 10, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:30 P.M., Friday, May 10, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
