Duane was born in Jamestown ND on Sept. 2, 1935. He was the son of Theodore O. and Irene (Holtz) Johnson. He attended Woodworth grade school and finished his education at Jamestown High School. Duane met the love of his life, Adeline Schielke in the spring of 1953. They were married on July 10, 1955 in Jamestown, ND. Adeline died September 17, 2004.
Duane was a truck driver for 41 years, having been employed with Dan Dugan Transport, Amoco Oil, Everetts Inc. and Mayer Truck Line. Duane logged over 4 million miles in his joyous 41 years and retired with an excellent driving record, and receiving numerous Safe Driving Awards. Duane enjoyed fishing, watching Nascar, going to rodeos, working on automobiles and spending time with his many grandchildren.
Duane is survived by three sons. Timothy (Shana) Johnson of Fargo ND, Thomas (Teresa) Johnson and Toron (Janet) Johnson both of Jamestown N.D.
He is survived by 9 grandchildren. Sydney Stoa, Chanel Malone, Piper Johnson, Jager Johnson,
Broc Johnson, Chelsey McDonald, Mitch Johnson, Tyler Johnson and Samantha Walker, along with two bonus granddaughters, Erika and Kelsey.
Additionally, Duane had 11 great grandchildren Remy, Jaxon, Nori, Marshall, Reid, Atticus, Emberlyn, Addison, Ella, Oaklyn, and Nixon along with bonus great grandchildren Braden, Hudson, Miah, Kason and Kelton.
Duane is also survived by his sister Sandra (Juel) Dalke of Rapid City, South Dakota and sister-in-law, Marlene (Casey) Schielke, Jamestown, ND.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Burnell (Delores) and
Gerald (LuAnn) from Rapid City, SD, Glen from Pipestone, MN and Quentin from
Jamestown ND, along with a sister Lois (Duane) Knudson from Jamestown, ND and a brother-in-law Curtis Burkhardt also from Jamestown.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Eddy Funeral Home. Private graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 4 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
