Dorothy A. Rittenbach

May 1, 1921 — June 16, 2017

Dorothy Alice (Mc Morris, Sprenger) Rittenbach passed away at the age of 96 on June 16, 2017 in the Mc Coy Family Suite at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

She was brought up in a loving Christian family. Dorothy loved the Lord and witnessed to others by how she lived her life. Her children can only imagine that when she entered into Heaven she was greeted by Jesus, as he said, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:21)

Dorothy was born in Weldon, Iowa on May 1, 1921 to William Frederick Mc Morris and Eliza Jane Bunch. She was the fifth child of eight. She taught 25 years in Iowa and North Dakota. Dorothy married John Sprenger on May 25, 1946. They had six children and lived on a farm north of Elgin, ND. After John passed away on May 3, 1962, Dorothy moved her family to Gackle, ND and taught school there. She moved again to teach in Jamestown, ND until her retirement in 1984. Dorothy married Carl Rittenbach on June 17, 1973. Carl passed away October 15, 1986.

Dorothy is survived by five of her children: Dennis (Shirley) Sprenger, Diana (Larry) Nail, Judith (Stanley) Huebner, Annette (Warren) Schooler, and Shirley (Mark) Blumer; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands: John Sprenger and Carl Rittenbach; daughter: Linda Lou Sprenger; great-granddaughter; parents; and seven brothers and sisters.
