Doris Radtke

Doris Radtke, 89, of Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.

Doris Frey was born March 23, 1921, in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Edwin H. and Clara A. (Koehn) Frey. She was raised on the family farm in Bloom Township, east of Jamestown. She attended the Homer Township School and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1939. Doris attended Ellendale Normal College, Ellendale, ND and then worked for the Farmers Home Administration in Forman, Lisbon and Ellendale. She married Robert Lee Radtke on October 7, 1945 in Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where she worked for Horton Architects for 50 years. Robert Lee died on August 30, 1985.

Doris was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a member and served as president of the Ladies Aide and volunteered for many projects including serving funeral luncheons and helping with the church bulletin and church mailings. She also worked as a volunteer at Hi-Acres Manor where she was honored for her 35 years of service in 2009. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Scrabble and reading.

She is survived by one son, Douglas (Shirley) Radtke, Brandon, SD; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Frey, Oakland, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Ruby Berge; and two brothers, Ervin and Carl.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Harlan Kaden officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown Hospital Hospice or the Anne Carlsen Center for Children.
