Donald “Don” Thoms, 88, Jamestown, ND passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his home.

Donald Thoms was born February 13, 1929 at Trinity Hospital, Jamestown, ND to Fred and Elise (Rick) Thoms. When he came home from the hospital he and his mother rode the Midland Continental Railway to Clementsville where his father picked them up. He attended Clementsville Grade School.

Don married Ella Schick on November 23, 1958 in Petersville Lutheran Church north of Pettibone, ND. They made their home on the farm North of Spiritwood, ND. Don and Ella farmed and raised their family on the farm. He was active in many areas including Northern Plains REC Board for 21 years, lifelong member of NDFU, worked in the fertilizer plant and NDFU field staff, 1952 Torchbearer, ASCS Grain Inspector, Community Credit Union, Coop Day Pancake Chef, Rose Township Treasurer, Spiritwood School Board, Stutsman County Farmers Union Board, Rose Local Farmers Union Chairman, Wimbledon Amateur Baseball League, Western Minnesota Steam Threshing Reunion. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church and served on many committee’s and headed pancake suppers.

Don played saxophone for the Rosebuds Orchestra. He enjoyed listening to all music and going on NDFU bus trips with Ella. Don was an avid goose, duck and deer hunter and loved to fish. He also enjoyed pitching bundles, attending threshing shows and polka festivals.

Don and Ella moved to Linden Court in 2010. He enjoyed meeting new friends and visiting with old friends. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Ella; son Duane (Brenda); daughter Judy (Michael) Reindel; grandchildren and great grandchildren Jason (Leah) and Eva Thoms, Tyler Thoms, Logan (Sarah), Emma, Brettley and Henry Reindel, Nicholas Reindel and Aaron; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one nephew and one niece.

Donations to JRMC Hospice.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, June 18 at Eddy Funeral Chapel with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
