Donald D. Jan, 72, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at his home.

Donald ""Don"" was born May 15, 1939 in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Charles and Mabel (Paulson) Jan. He graduated from New Town High School, New Town, ND in 1957. He attended and graduated from Minot State University with a B.S. in secondary education with a major in Math and a minor in Science. He earned his Masters in Math at the University of Idaho, Boise, ID in 1965. He attended post graduate classes at the University of Kansas and Florida State. Don taught math and science in Parshall, ND and at Jamestown. In 1967 Don married Lola Morris in Lansford, ND. He later became the American Family Agent in Jamestown, retiring in 1999.

Don enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family and friends and having coffee and breakfast with his buddies. He enjoyed deer hunting in the Badlands, gardening, traveling, golfing and playing cards. He also enjoyed attending and supporting all sporting events for the Jamestown Blue Jays and Jamestown College Jimmies. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, the Jamestown Lions and the Church Couples Club.

Don is survived by his wife, Lola, Jamestown; son, Michael B. Jan, Rugby, ND; daughter, Kathy (Scott) Goeringer, Denver, CO; twin brother, Ronald Jan, Minot, ND; one nephew, Steven Jan and one niece, Karla Jan, both of Minot; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Eldred Jan.
