God says, “There is a time to be born.” Donald Duane Brandenburg was born on a farm near Deisem, ND on January 7, 1935 to Emil and Ida (Carow) Brandenburg.
Jesus says, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Don was baptized in the death and resurrection of Jesus on March 3, 1935 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND.
Jesus says, “Whoever confesses me before men, I will confess him before my Father in heaven.” Don confessed his faith in Jesus through the Rite of Confirmation on March 21, 1948, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Col 3:17
God says, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Don married Marlene (Anderson) Brandenburg on February 2, 1956. Don and Marlene were married 61 years, Marlene received her crown of eternal life on August 8, 2017.
The Bible says, “Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Don graduated from Edgeley High School in 1952. Don was born on a farm, learned farming techniques from his father, Don purchased a farm 1 mile west of his parent’s farm, and taught his children how to be stewards of the land and everything that the Lord gave them to care for. Don served the Lord by being a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Elder. He served as ND District Lutheran Laymen’s League President and International LLL Region 12 Governor. Don and Marlene were instrumental in organizing the ND Branch of the Orphan Grain Train. Don loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone.
God says “There is a time to die.” Don died on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Ave Maria Nursing Home in Jamestown, ND at the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
Don is survived by sons: Mike (Lovice), Edgeley; Dana (Joni) Jud; Kurt (Cathy), Edgeley and Jeff (Jane), Edgeley, ND. Daughter, Marin, Bismarck, ND. 14 grandchildren: Micah (Joannie), Marcus (Nicki), Darcy (Lauren), Derek (Nicole), Ryan (Stacia) Henningsen, Lacey (Dylan) Grant, Lacey, Lindsey (Dustin) Miles, Amber (Chris) Brummund, Jamie (Jeremy) Worden, Kyle (Sophie), Miranda (Josh) Czajkowski, Morgan and Giselle; 35 Great Grandchildren: (Mike) Payton (fiancé Pierce Johnson), Jaden, Carson, Calli; Trinity and Braden; Lena; Cameron, Mya, Don, Kay, and Ken; Aiden and Ethan; Kyah, Raya, Trey, and Demy; (Dana) Kennedy and Nixon; Lincoln, Karter, and Monroe; (Kurt) Olivia, Alyssa, Dylan, and Alayna; Jace, Jett, and Jade; Maggie and Cleo; (Jeff) Lennix and Drew; Jordan. Sister, Dianne Schaeffer, Bismarck. Several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his wife; mother and father, Brother-in-Law August Schaeffer, several aunts and uncles and grandson, Michael, Jr.
Don was also preceded in death by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who conquered death and the grave on Easter Sunday. Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies. And whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” Jesus also says, “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of eternal life.”
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Funeral Service – 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, with Pastor Brandon Woodruff officiating.
Visitation – 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the church.
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the church.
Burial – Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.
