Diane A Young

Diane A. Young, 68, passed away September 12, 2017 in her home after a long struggle with failing health. She is a special soul who will grace heaven as a beautiful Angel.

Diane (Myhre) Young was born in Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Kermit and Bertha (Thompson) Myhre on August 8, 1949. Most of her growing up years were spent in Jamestown where she graduated from high school in 1967. She married Donald Young on March 17, 1967 in Jamestown where they welcomed their son, Chris, in 1970. Don passed away in 1976.

Diane had a varied work career, working in styling salons, at Sears, Jamestown Hospital, the Eagles in Jamestown, and at a special needs facility in Fargo. However, her subsequent employment with Alpha Opportunities in Jamestown was the center of her life for 18 years until her retirement in January of this year. She was dedicated to her career and devoted to her mission of providing care, compassion and love to the people she supported. She worked tirelessly, and took great joy and delight in seeing them bloom and grow. She was a great cook, unbeatable at scrabble, a voracious reader, and an adventurous traveling companion. Diane had a wonderful sense of humor, loved spending time with family, and was a ray of sunshine in the lives of all who had the good fortune of knowing her.

Diane is survived by her son, Chris(Jennifer) Young, Sand Springs, OK; her sister, Candis (Harley) Sommerfeld, Fargo, ND; nephew, Ryan (Shannon) Pendergast and daughter, Mia, Eagle, CO; close cousin, Alan (Pat) Burkhard, Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Kayla, Sierra, and Garrett, Minot, ND, Blake and Cheyanne, Sand Springs, OK; four great grandchildren; a loyal friend, Mary Jo Dillingham, and numerous cousins and other relatives.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, (John Myhre and Lanis Myhre.

Memorial services will be held in her honor on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1:00 PM, at Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.

Burial will take place at Highland Home Cemetery following service.
