Delton Hieb

March 5, 1935 — March 16, 2009

Delton Robert Hieb, 74, Woodworth, North Dakota, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at Triumph Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Delton ""Del"" was born March 5, 1935 in Woodworth, the son of Benjamin and Myrtle (Blair) Hieb. He was raised on the family farm southeast of Woodworth. He attended rural school in the early years and graduated from Medina High School in 1953. Del was a farmer and rancher all his life, near Woodworth. He also drove the school bus for many years.

Del was chairman of the Valley Springs township for many years. He enjoyed the weekly livestock sales, not only in Jamestown, but also Napoleon and surrounding communities. When not around the sales ring, he could be found in the café playing cards with his many friends. His greatest joy were his grandchildren and great-grandson. He loved spending time with them, telling them stories and sharing his many years of wisdom with them and just watching them grow up.

Del is survived by one son, Kim (Jessica) Hieb, Woodworth; one daughter, Pam Hieb (Chuck Waggoner and family), St. Joseph, MO; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Bernard (Olga) Hieb, Cleveland, ND and Clayton (Sylvia) Hieb, Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Cindy (Wayne) Blaisdell, Eliot, ME and Peggy Ernest, Camden, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rhoda; and one sister, Marge.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
