Della Kuhn

Della Mae (Fiechtner) Kuhn, age 91, of Eden Prairie, MN, formerly Edgeley, ND, passed away on January 18, 2026. Della was born February 16, 1934, to Jacob and Ida (Ziegenhagel) Fiechtner in Lehr, ND.

Della graduated from Lehr High School in 1951 as the Valedictorian and from Jamestown College (University of Jamestown) with a B.S. degree in 1955. During college, she served as the administrative assistant to the Dean of Jamestown College. After graduation, she became the high school business teacher in Napoleon, ND, from 1955 – 1959.

Della married Leo Kuhn on December 27, 1956, in Napoleon, ND. They owned the Red Owl Store in Napoleon, then moved to Langdon, ND, where they operated a Red Owl Store. They moved from Langdon to Edgeley, ND, in 1960, where they owned and operated the Red Owl Store until 1993, where Della was the accountant. In Edgeley, Della was also a substitute high school teacher.

Della was actively involved in her community, belonging to the Edgeley Transfiguration Church Altar Society, Homemakers Club, Edgeley Card Club, and Jolly Senior Citizens. Additionally, she had a wide range of interests, enjoying coffee parties and other hobbies including china painting, music, and theatre arts, particularly Chanhassen (MN) Dinner Theatres. She passed on her love of music, including playing piano, to her children.

She was an avid sports fan, especially the Minnesota Twins, attending multiple games each year, including the 1987 playoff and World Series games. She enjoyed watching the North Dakota State University Bison, attending numerous football and basketball games; highlights included watching the Bison win numerous National FCS Championships and Summit League Basketball tournaments. Additionally, she attended her grandchildren’s sporting events, watching them play football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and softball.

She loved traveling and enjoyed several vacations with her daughter. They visited Europe, the Rose Bowl parade, Medora, and multiple Midwestern road trips.

Della is survived by her son, Steven (Kimberly) Kuhn, Eagan, MN; daughter Jane (Rick Benesh) Kuhn, Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren Amanda (Jared) Meyer, Fargo, ND, and Nathan (Elena Ehrlich) Kuhn, Golden Valley, MN; brother Russell (Delores) Fiechtner, West Fargo, ND. She is also survived by many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, in-laws Leopold and Anna Kuhn, and brother Richard Fiechtner.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday, May 22, 2026 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Home, Edgeley, ND.  Burial will take place at 3:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND with a reception to follow at the Kuhn home in Edgeley, ND.

Memorials are preferred to the Edgeley Ambulance Fund.
