Debra "Deb" DeVary
Debra "Deb" DeVary, 64, of Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at SMP Health – Ave Maria in Jamestown after a courageous battle with cancer.
Deb was born on November 17, 1961, in Washburn, North Dakota, to Clarence "Clink" and Barbara (Bergquist) Goehring. She later moved with her family to Bismarck before settling in Jamestown in 1971. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1980 and went on to attend Valley City State University, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.
After returning to Jamestown in 2014, Deb was employed by the North Dakota State Hospital, where she dedicated many years of compassionate service.
A woman of deep faith, Deb was a devoted member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown and was active in United Women in Faith. Her church family was an important part of her life, and she found great comfort and purpose in her faith.
Deb enjoyed reading, spending time with those she loved, and connecting with family and friends on Facebook, where she often shared words of encouragement and inspiration. She also cherished the companionship of her beloved cats, Boo Boo and Cabo, who brought her great comfort and joy.
Deb is survived by her mother, Barbara Goehring of Valley City; her partner, Ron Monson; and her beloved companions, Boo Boo and Cabo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence "Clink" Goehring, and her husband, John DeVary.
Deb will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, unwavering faith, generous heart, and the love she shared with her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown, with Pastor Jennifer McDonald officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eddy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
