Daniel F. Plowe, 79, Pettibone, North Dakota died Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at his home.

Daniel was born August 18, 1925 in Pingree, North Dakota the son of Harry and Minnie (Breakey) Plowe. He attended school in Pingree. Dan entered the U.S. Navy on May 11, 1944 in Jamestown and served during World War II in the South Pacific. He received the American Campaign Medal, Campaign and Service Victory Medal WWII and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Dan was discharged on June 10, 1946. On January 11, 1947, Dan married Jule Norby. He farmed in the Pettibone area from 1952 to 2005. On November 24, 1992 Dan married Virginia Eagon.

Dan was a member of the VFW Post 760 and commander from 2000-2002, a member of the Cooties, President of the Kidder County Farmers Union from 1975 - 1984, President of the Shipping Association in 1983 - 1984, Township Assessor from 1961 - 1968, Clerk from 1976 - 2005 and a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pettibone where he served as an elder, trustee and on the finance committee. Dan enjoyed farming and ranching, dancing and restoring antique cars. Dan's antique cars were often seen at local parades as a reminder of the many hours spent in restoring them to their original condition. Dan and Virginia rarely missed a Saturday evening dance at the Eagles Club or VFW.

Dan is survived by his wife, Virginia, Pettibone; son Charles, Minneapolis, MN; two step-daughters, Kay (Chuck) Lea, Lexington, MO and Geneva (Jerry) Mason, Irving, TX, a step-son, Dale (Cindy) Eagon, Sayre, OK, twelve grandchildren, Charles A. Plowe, Julianne Plowe, Daniel L. Plowe, Sherry Watson, Krystal, Darren Lea, Nicole Lea, Scott Lea, Casey Stoneburner, Brandi Kirkes, Kristie Sawatzky and Michael Eagon and two great-grandchildren, Luke Plowe and Alicia Plowe; one brother, Phil Plowe, Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Harriet Remmick, Jamestown, ND.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel, parents, former wife, Jule, two brothers, Wesley and Charles and two sisters, Katherine and Verna.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, August 15, 2005 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone with Rev. Gary Asmus officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Petersville Cemetery, Pettibone, North Dakota.
