Daniel Thomas Hoff

Daniel Thomas Hoff, 79, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at his home in Jamestown.

Mr. Hoff was born on May 7, 1927 near Linton, North Dakota, in Emmons County, to Jacob and Christina (Boettcher) Hoff. He grew up and attended school in Emmons County.

He was baptized at the Martin Lutheran Church, east of Linton, and confirmed in the Peace Lutheran Church in Linton.

He helped on the family farm and various farmers until moving to Steele in 1950. He entered the US Army in October 1952 and received an honorable discharge in September 1954, during that time he served 16 months in Korea. After his discharge he returned to Steele, worked for Shortys Texaco Station and later for Bek Telephone Co.

On September 22, 1957 he married Loretta Martin of Lake Williams, ND at Petersville Lutheran Church, rural Pettibone. He continued to live at Steele until July 1959 when they moved to Jamestown. He worked at various service stations in Jamestown, Everetts Construction and last for Scherbenske and Sons.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

Daniel is survived by three sons: James (Wanda) of Jamestown, David (Lynn), Glen Ullin, ND and Kevin of Bismarck, ND; one daughter, Linda (Larry) Vogel, Menoken, ND; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Julius (Genevieve) Hoff, Jamestown; one half sister, Erna (Verlyn) Bauer, Washburn, ND; many nieces & nephews and a special friend, Esther Buchholz and family of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; his parents, Jacob & Christina; two brothers, Fred & Adam Hoff and four half brothers, John, Reinhold, Andrew & August Hoff.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Rich Fitzer officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
