Charles Kartes, 83, Jamestown, ND, formerly from Dickey, ND died at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND on Sunday, October 12, 2008.

Charles was a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church, Dickey, ND and while in Jamestown was a member of St. James Basilica. He was a long time member of the Jamestown Eagles and had been a member of the Dickey School Board, the Lamoure County Farm Bureau and the Russel Township Board.

Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, John (Mary Jean), Jamestown, ND Mark (Corine), and Tom (Theresa), both Dickey, ND; 2 daughters Ginny (John) Kleven, Jamestown and Betty Dietrich, Bismarck, ND; 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Kathleen Jensen, Bloomington, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son Steven; 1 son-in-law Gary Dietrich; and 1 brother-in-law, Bernard Jensen.

Charles enjoyed hunting and trapping, baseball, fishing and playing poker. He had once drawn a full house consisting of Kings and Queens, a winner, he said, just like his family of 3 sons and 2 daughters.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Assumption Catholic Church, Dickey, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Lisko Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Vigil Service: Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Assumption Cemetery, Dickey, ND
